Harkins Theatres and Emerging Pictures are proud to present exclusive world class cultural programming with the Opera and Ballet in Cinema Series. After a successful inaugural season, Harkins and Emerging Pictures are currently planning the 2010-2011 season. This series offers a wide range of cultural entertainment previously unseen in theatres. The Opera and Ballet in Cinema Series brings the best in European opera and ballet in addition presented in crystal-clear Hi-Definition digital projection.
This past year, the Opera and Ballet in Cinema Series brought you landmark works such as director Zeffirelli's production of Verdi's Aida from La Scala di Milano; the renowned Salzburg Festival featuring Mozart's Così fan Tutte; from Teatro Comunale di Bologna, a stunning performance of Bellini's I Puritani, starring Juan Diego Flórez; from l'Opera de Paris, director Dmitri Tcherniakov's innovative production of Tchaikovsky's Eugene Onegin performed by the Bolshoi Opera; and the movie La Bohème starring Anna Netrebko and Rolando Villazón. In select theaters, two LIVE events were offered - a unique opportunity that will be continued in the new season beginning Fall 2010.
